Son of Rambow

A very sweet film that is a refreshing alternative to the Richard Curtis version of English lovable comedy. The young leads do a remarkable job considering it's their first ever film they deliver the laughs. They use language which is probably like Chaucer to their 21st Century ears (I was once dropped to substitute for writing 'is skill' after my name on the football team sheet posted on the wall).

It's a bit flawed of course. I don't recognise the 'Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit' type family but I do remember a kid at school who's family wouldn't let him watch TV, so I'll give them that. The 'away from home mother' seemed a bit convenient also, and the 6th Form kids were all dressed like they were appearing on Top of the Pops and then moving on to The Wag. I wasn't like that.

All in all though, tons of fun. The French exchange student is a work of genius, there's a wonderful cameo from Eric Sykes and I'm sure there's an homage to Wes Anderson's Barclaycard commercial in there. I hope so, because it deserves one. Enjoy. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0845046/)

The Forbiden Kingdom

An American teenager who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and kung-fu classics makes an extraordinary discovery in a Chinatown pawnshop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. With the lost relic in hand, the teenager unexpectedly finds himself traveling back to ancient China to join a crew of warriors from martial arts lore on a dangerous quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King.

Indiana Jones 4

Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are keeping a typically tight leash on details surrounding the fourth Indy installment, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (due May 22). Their team helped squelch renegade plot and image leaks online, shut down the attempted sale of some stolen production materials, and stands ready to bring legal action against anybody violating confidentiality agreements. But don't worry — taking a good, long gander at the exclusive photo below won't get you thrown in the slammer. Seen here for the first time, it features Indy (Harrison Ford), a new character named ''Mutt'' (Shia LaBeouf), and an old favorite named Marion Ravenwood (Raiders' Karen Allen, with her back to the camera). Wall-E

WALL-E is the story of the last little robot on Earth. He is a robot and his programming was to help clean up. You see, it's set way in the future. Through consumerism, rampant, unchecked consumerism, the Earth was covered with trash. And to clean up, everyone had to leave Earth and set in place millions of these little robots that went around to clean up the trash and make Earth habitable again.

Well, the cleanup program failed with the exception of this one little robot and he's left on Earth doing his duty all alone. But it's not a story about science fiction. It's a love story, because, you see, WALL·E falls in love with EVE, a robot from a probe that comes down to check on Earth, and she's left there to check on and see how things are going and he absolutely falls in love with her.
